Role Summary/Purpose

The Senior HR Manager is the first point of contact for managers and employees of GE O&G Germany in Wunstorf. He/she provides HR leadership for the site partnering with the local Works Council and the joined Works Council. He/ she is critical in driving site wide initiatives and Germany wide O&G projects and providing responsive internal customer support. This role is an individual contributor role with a broad organizational impact and reports to the Senior HRM Oil & Gas Germany.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Partner with O&G HR Team and Leadership Team to define and execute HR initiatives for the site

  • Proactively and timely translate Business requirements into Labor Relation strategy and drive Works Council communication and agenda

  • Manage works council relations and communication with client leadership in alignment with HR Business Partners and Labor Relations/ Legal CoE.

  • Coaching and counseling client leadership regarding labor and works council relation

  • Closely cooperate with GGO HR teams, be involved/ contribute to Germany initiatives considering Oil & Gas requirements

  • Ensure employees and managers are provided with an available first point of contact for questions and guidance on fundamental HR topics and issues

  • Know O&G talents and ensure development and retention plans as appropriate identify people and roles for cross-functional development

  • Partner with HR Business Partners and O&TD professionals to execute business-specific HR strategies

  • Lead & Coordinate HR & global initiatives for the benefit of Oil & Gas Germany and in alignment with Oil & Gas Europe

  • Ensure that routine and complex employee relations issues are properly identified, reported, investigated & resolved

  • Provide advice and counsel to managers and employees to ensure consistent application and integration of policies, procedures and practices at 100% compliance to promote an ethical and compliant work environment

  • Lead key HR processes including compensation planning and compliance

  • Conduct HR training and support for functional processes like Performance Management at GE, Session C, Salary Planning and New Employee Orientation

  • Conduct investigations including gathering, preserving, documenting and analyzing all available information and evidence, and in some circumstances, making recommendations to the business on disciplinary action

  • Assist with other HR special projects or initiatives as needed

  • Maintain and protect confidential data with utmost scrutiny, judgment, and care

  • Provide coaching and mentorship

  • Lead other site-wide HR projects as necessary, working across multiple client groups


  • Diploma, Bachelor's or Master’s Degree from an accredited university or college

  • Significant professional work experience with first experience in the Human Resources function with a strong focus on Works Council relations

  • Legal/ labor relations background (LL.M. or similar)

  • Fluency in German and English
