PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
As a member of the SAP HANA Infrastructure team you are equally in charge for preparing the playgrounds for new innovative development tasks as well as for constructing and operating a stable productive environment to support our fully automated development process. Backed by a data center full of high end servers we do more than just Continuous Integration. We do state-of-the-art C development based on Open Source components like Linux, Jenkins, Bugzilla, Gerrit, Git, CMake and Python that have proven to be a solid base for large scale development. EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
As a Linux System Administrator in the SAP HANA Database team you will be working with a group of exceptionally talented and motivated colleagues. You will need to:
Develop and improve our Linux environment (SuSE & RedHat)
Analyze & fix Linux issues together with the HANA C developers
Test & integrate new tools to improve the productivity of the HANA development
Your tasks will also include:
Close cooperation with the SAP HANA Database development, enabling core developers to provide new coding in quality as fast as possible
Continuously improve the quality of the SAP HANA Database Linux environment
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
We require that you meet the core competencies and skills listed below:
Basic programming knowledge (Python or Perl and Shell-Scripting)
Advanced skills & experience with Linux/ Unix, network & storage system
Very good analytical skills, familiarity with root cause analysis, debugging and analyzing complex problems
Knowledge of cutting-edge Linux tools & technologies
Strong will to take the initiatives and learn new technologies in evolving environment
Ability to work well in close teamwork in an distributed team over several international locations
German and English both spoken and written
A plus will be skills in:
Using Git, Gerrit, Jenkins & Bugzilla APIs
GNU Make, CMake, Ninja
Cluster file systems (GPFS, OCFS)
Experience in DBMS Administration and Operations
