The Industry Advisor Process Industry has a high knowledge of both, the industry needs and processes, and the SAP solution portfolio and architecture. As a member of the virtual account team he/she advises customers in their overall SAP strategy, target architecture and roadmap and gives directions. He/she supports the account team in the complete sales cycles from demand generation to deal closure.

An Industry Advisor Process Industry interacts with prospective customers through executive meetings, discovery conversations, solution demonstrations, executive presentations and follow-up discussions. The primary role of the Industry Advisor during an active sales cycle is to gain acceptance from the customer that SAP solution can solve the customer’s problem and is the right choice. In addition to deal support, an Industry Advisor collaborates with sales and the Value Engineering to plan and execute customer specific business development strategies using Design Thinking tools and techniques.


  • Provide industry thought leadership, strategic solution advise, and expert consultation to support and create strong value driven sales cycles at key customers.

  • Lead customer engagements to assess strategic objectives, innovation scenarios, key improvement opportunities and other sources of incremental economic value.


  • Drive and support customer’s strategic investments into SAP’s product and service portfolio in close alignment with account teams

  • Engineer customer business cases and develop value driven sales cycles for large strategic deals

  • Provide guidance for strategic customers by architecture and roadmaps advise


  • Bachelor equivalent is a minimum requirement, Master equivalent optional

  • Industry and Business Knowledge: Must have intimate knowledge of the Life Scienes and / or Chemicals industry, preferably with experience in one of the below lines-of business

  • Sales & Marketing / Customer Engagement & Commerce

  • Research & Development

  • Manufacturing / IoT

  • SAP Solution knowledge – Broad overview of the SAP solution portfolio and architecture, the SAP Strategy and IT Trends in general

  • Experienced in enterprise architectures and roadmaps

  • Expert knowledge/expertise on end to end processes/solution matching

  • Experience in sales, presales and consulting processes

  • Actively drive in white spaces

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Orchestrate individuals through complexity

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills

  • Fluent German language skills, English on proficient level


  • 10 years of relevant professional work experience

  • 3 - 5 years of experience within the Life Science or Chemical Industry or with solutions for these industries, including sound knowledge of business processes

  • Demonstrates 5-7 successful sales engagements
