SAPs Cloud Business is the fastest growing Business Area at SAP.

Within the Cloud Lifecycle Management (CLM) area, the Service Provider Engineering team is providing the central management platform, related tool sets and automation content for efficient operation of SAP`s Cloud offerings such as HANA Enterprise Cloud and Software as a Service Applications like S/4HANA, SuccessFactors and others.

The team drives the design, implementation and “productization” of the required tools covering the complete lifecycle of the offered solutions, such as initial system/solution provisioning including integration into the solution-monitoring infrastructure, software maintenance as well as advanced business continuity services in the area of high availability and disaster recovery. Moreover, it develops incident/problem management as well as change management applications to support ITIL conform operation.

The team utilizes agile development practices and continuous deployment in close cooperation with our end-users and stakeholders to deliver appealing, easily consumable and efficient operation processes. We are in liaison with the various product groups to deliver SAP product innovations to the cloud. We provide state of the art processes and use modern technologies like HANA and HTML5.


We are currently looking for a talented Software Engineer to join our innovative team to further drive automation of SAP’s Cloud Operation.

As a developer within the Service Provider Engineering Team, you will be dealing with the full development cycle by discovering requirements together with our (internal) customers, identifying the appropriate architecture, designing, implementing and testing the features as well as maintaining it. In your role as developer, you will be working in an international, cross-cultural environment with the following activities:

  • Design appealing and sustainable solutions for cloud operations using test-driven methodology.

  • Optimize and simplify existing processes and code (like Business By Design Development Technology related applications, HANA based single persistency, etc.).

  • Perform agile prototyping to evaluate which solution fits best for cloud operations.

  • Develop UIs and APIs in a model-driven way.


  • Good team player, as we are working in a friendly and agile team. No shyness regarding code reviews and pair programming.

  • “Can do” attitude.

  • Openness to work on a significant, existing code base, and ability to dig into it and get an understanding of how “other people’s” code work.

  • Willingness to master the “full stack” from UI through Business Object models down to the database layout.

  • Openness towards new technologies.

  • Willingness to discuss directly with end users and stakeholders, and ability to translate their expectations into simple, “easy to use” and “easy to maintain” architecture and functionality.


  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or equivalent

  • Proficient in German and English

  • Very good analytical skills combined with the ability to work on complex topics and drive their realization in an efficient way.

  • Good communication and technical skills

  • Programming skills in at least one object-oriented language. Knowledge of ABAP OO is highly appreciated. SQL and HTML5/JavaScript is a plus.

  • Knowledge of fundamental web technologies, like SOAP, XML, REST/ODATA are beneficial.

  • Knowledge of the Business ByDesign/AP development technologies (Business Objects, ESF2, MDRS, UI Designer) is a plus.

  • Experience in agile development practices (SCRUM), test-driven development as well as model-driven development is appreciated.

  • Expertise in the cloud/hosting business is beneficial.

  • Proven expertise in SAPs Lifecycle Management tools as well as SAPs operations and support processes is a plus.

  • Knowledge of ITIL is beneficial


Graduates are welcome. Experience as a developer in the outlined skills and competences is of advantage.
