Role Summary/Purpose

The GP&S EHS Site Lead will demonstrate leadership in communicating business EHS goals, programs, processes on GP&S projects. In this role, you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term project goals. In that function you will report solid line into the GP&S EHS Coordinator for the region you are working in.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Run own projects in EMEA as EHS Site lead

  • Create and run training sessions for new site personnel

  • Create and grow safety culture at assigned project

  • Implement / modify EHS programs and procedures to ensure company compliance and customer expectations

  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements

  • Work with consultants and contractors on related EHS issues

  • Modify and implement compliance tracking programs and record keeping systems

  • Conduct and ensure effective EHS education programs are in place

  • Provide and determine alternatives for issue resolution

  • Develop and work with site teams focused on EHS program development, implementation and improvement

  • Measure progress toward successfully meeting corporate expectations

  • Manage function-related costs across site

  • Participate in EHS issue resolution

  • The EHS Site Lead will work 100% on projects in EMEA (mainly Germany)

  • Travel up to 100%

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, IHK/HWK ("Meister/ Techniker")

  • Proven experience with exposure to several EHS areas in the field environment

  • Medical fitness and Basic Safety Trainings (GWO) for work at height

  • Willingness and flexibility to travel up to 100%

  • Fluency in English and German, excellent oral and written communication, presentation, training, and negotiation skills

  • Strong oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Have a high energy level and the ability to energize others

  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills, capable of working within a diverse team

  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels within the company as well as organizations outside GE (regulatory agencies)

Desired Characteristics

7 ASiG or equal international qualification (NEBOSH) needed

  • SIGEKO if possible (German certificate)
