Cluster Category Manager DACH (m/f)

The Cluster Category Manager will be part of a team supporting approximately $150 to $200 million in spend for Johnson & Johnson Companies. The role will support the Cluster Category Lead and requires strong collaboration with business stakeholders, suppliers, and the procurement community. This individual will assume responsibility for driving results against specific cluster procurement goals and objectives as outlined by the Cluster Category Lead.

Scope and responsibilities include:

  • Play an active role in driving the execution of the Procurement vision for, with and through the stakeholder community

  • Lead and/or support category strategy implementation in the cluster - in particular commercial categories - that will effectively meet the long range requirements of the business partners and deliver maximum value for J&J

  • First point of contact for suppliers, strategy owners, and business partners to assure the delivery of JNJ’s objectives

  • Develop deep relationships with cluster specific suppliers, including data review and analysis, performance management, development/improvement of end to end value, and bringing innovation to the business

  • Identify business demand requirements and partner within the Procurement/Business community to deliver value, improvements and drive competitive advantage

  • Deliver on and be accountable for Procurement cluster commitments

  • Escalate issues that may impact Global Procurement or the business

  • Act as the back-up for the Cluster Category Lead


  • University Degree in the area of Business Administration, life science or equivalent

  • Minimum of 8+ years related business experience

  • Strong level of proficiency with core Procurement skills (e.g. Category Management, negotiation, supplier management and performance, contract management, supply market analysis,, etc.)

  • Experienced in the deployment of commercial sourcing strategies such as Integrated Marketing, Marketing Operation and Sales & Distributor Management

  • Strong knowledge to represent Procurement from a multi-category perspective

  • Strong level of credibility with internal customers, and with the supplier community

  • Strong influencing skills with ability to see issues from multiple viewpoints and understand differing needs of stakeholders (e.g., Businesses, Procurement LT, Marketing, R&D, Supply Chain);

  • Good experience in leading of cross-functional teams

  • Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to respond to changes in the external environment, while ensuring the organization is able to effectively and efficiently move through transitions

  • Strong project management skills and the ability to show strategic thinking

  • Strong verbal and written communication skill with ability to confidently present complex information

  • Able to prioritize requests, and propose effective cost/customer service alternatives when necessary.

  • Ability to show judgment in developing new approaches and resolving issues

  • German and English language skills proficiency, both oral and written
