OSRAM SYLVANIA PhD position in nano patterned sapphire substrates for deep UV LEDs in Regensburg, Germany
developing of different designs and structuring processes for nano-PSS shall be evaluated and optimized, which requires a close coupling between structuring and epitaxy
Design different nano –pss structures and verify influence on light extraction efficiency
Chip processing: Develop new and adapt existing nano-imprint//standard lithography process,
plasma and chemical etch processes for nano structuring of the sapphire surface,
surface cleaning process for obtaining a reproducible “epi ready” surface
Adapt and optimize the AlN growth start in epitaxy on nano-PSS surfaces,
check and try to reduce the defect density in the AlN/AlGaN buffer,
eliminate detrimental strain/bow issues and
identify possible effects of the nano-PSS on the LED heterostructure (efficiency, strain)
Master degree (or equivalent) in a field of study supporting the successful completion of the associated topics (e.g. Physics, Electronics, Computer Science).
Interest in Deep UV technology
Fluent in English (written and oral).
Self-reliant and highly proactive way of working.
Excellent communication skills.
