Amazon is seeking a Tax Manager (m/f)

to focus on primarily income tax reporting and compliance tasks for our German operation. As a member of the Foreign Reporting Group, this position will also focus on international aspects of Amazon's worldwide income tax provision. This position will also support the US and international tax controversy teams on audits and the international planning tax team on the compliance and reporting aspects of projects (including M&A and integration). The position will be based in Munich (Germany) and will report to the Compliance & Reporting Senior Tax Manager based in Munich as well.

Your Responsibilities

  • Responsible for German direct tax compliance and reporting tasks

  • Responsible for German income tax accounting under US GAAP & German GAAP

  • Review tax planning initiatives to determine impacts on worldwide tax provision

  • Review international aspects of Amazon’s worldwide tax provision

  • Research tax effects of various international transactions

  • Support international tax compliance and reporting aspects of Amazon's many growth initiatives

  • Support US and international tax controversy teams on tax audits

  • Drive process improvements and coordinate with Tax Technology Team to facilitate streamlining and automation of recurring calculations

  • Management of and close collaboration with outside tax service providers

  • University Degree in Economics / Finance / Accounting or equivalent

  • 6+ years of Tax Accounting / Tax Compliance experience either in a multi-national corporate tax department or public accounting firm with international client base

  • Strong knowledge of German taxes and international income taxation concepts

  • Strong knowledge of (tax) accounting under German GAAP (BilMoG) and US GAAP

  • German speaker, Fluency in English

  • Project and people management experience

  • Passed German tax advisor exam

  • Strong tax operational background and ability to drive process improvements

  • Solid MS Office skills

  • Experience with accounting software (Oracle, Hyperion,…).
