Senior Business Development Manager in Munich, Germany

Amazon FreeTime Unlimited (Fire for Kids Unlimited in the UK) is an all-in-one subscription for kids that offers unlimited access to thousands of kid-friendly books, movies, TV shows, educational apps, and games – all while blocking social media access and in-app purchasing, so that parents don’t have any unwelcome surprises. Amazon FreeTime also includes easy-to-use parental controls, allowing parents to set daily time limits or restrict certain categories, like games and video, while leaving unlimited time for reading.

The Amazon FreeTime Team is seeking an experienced German speaking Senior Business Development Manager to lead content acquisition efforts in the EU to accelerate growth of FreeTime Unlimited and Fire for Kids Unlimited. The ideal candidate has sound business judgement with a strong track record in identifying opportunities, building relationships (at all levels, both internally and externally), driving terms improvements, and closing deals. This is a results oriented role in a fun, start-up like environment that requires flexibility, agility, creativity and a sense of humor.

Key job functions are:

  • Create and execute the strategy for engaging specific developers/publishers of digital content for kids, acquiring their content, and building long term partnerships

  • Structure, negotiate and execute agreements

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with partners, exploring new opportunities where they exist

  • Independently execute, while working cross functionally with key internal stakeholders (e.g. content teams, legal, finance)

  • Prepare and deliver business reviews to senior management

  • Help define and update the mission, goals, and success metrics for business development for our kids digital platform and ensure they are in line with the business strategy

  • Research and identify new opportunities for the kids digital content business

  • Experience building and maintaining high-level business relationships

  • Strong presentation, sales, and negotiation skills; ability to close high value and high profile deals

  • Strong ownership and bias for action; ability to internalise goals and work independently to create appropriate project/action plans for those goals

  • Strong analytical orientation; comfort using analytical tools and making data-based decisions

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to the details; ability to analyse issues and create appropriate tactical plans

  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, innovative, and rapidly evolving industry and business organization

  • Ability to travel throughout Europe and to the US as needed

  • Fluency in German and English

  • Bachelor’s degree is required

  • Strong familiarity with mobile and digital content

  • Negotiations experience in Media, Internet, Games or High Tech Industry

  • Technical fluency; comfort identifying key technical issues, understanding their business development implications, and discussing alternative technical solutions

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; strong bias towards data-based decision making, and comfort with proforma financial and operational analysis

  • Excellent communication and persuasion skills; demonstrated success building buy-in for an innovative and bold strategic vision

  • Tenacity and sense of urgency; the ability to make things happen quickly with large less nimble partners

  • MBA desired
