*Major responsibilities: *

  • Act as responsible statutory Compliance Manager for SSGA Germany and Switzerland, including the function as Anti Money Laundering Officer for SSGA Germany
  • Advisory on all Compliance and regulatory issues to the business, in particular on client facing activities, sales, distribution and governance
  • Ensure effective execution of the global Compliance Oversight Programme for SSGA Germany and Switzerland, by coordinating active efforts/steps regarding the implementation of effective procedures to ensure compliance with material legal provisions and standards
  • Regulatory Monitoring to identify material laws, regulations and standards of importance for the respective SSGA entities
  • Develop, implement and administer compliance policies and procedures and provide appropriate and focused training to the business with regards to regulatory issues and such company policies and procedures.
  • Develop, communicate and implement strategies, procedures and technology solutions designed to enhance the firm’s compliance organization
  • Respond to, oversee and/or assist with responses to regulatory inquiries
  • Manage key projects and new policy/procedure initiatives from the initiation and planning stages through execution and completion
  • Direct the communication of status, issue, and risk disposition to all stakeholders, including senior management, on a timely basis
  • Facilitate, coordinate, and arbitrate cross-functional macro level topics with key business stakeholders (often including senior management)
  • Review and approve financial promotions and marketing collateral prior to distribution to clients and other third parties
  • Review and assess compliance breaches and coordinate the implementation remedial actions.
  • Provide support to the Head of EMEA Compliance for SSGA

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Educated to degree level, preferably legal qualification
  • Several years of experience with investment / asset management and project management related responsibilities within Compliance, preferably in a financial services institution
  • Strong knowledge of the existing EU and local regulatory frameworks as well as comprehensive understanding of the asset management industry, services and products
  • Experience in Compliance Project execution
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in Englisch and German and the ability to succinctly convey information to senior management
  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead program work on a global large scale level
  • Flexibility, versatility and ability to shepherd multiple concurrent priorities to completion without significant guidance
  • Demonstrable success in coordinating large-scale projects involving geographically and functionally diverse stakeholders is required
  • Effective management and interpersonal skills as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience interacting with knowledgeable and demanding audiences at all levels of management
  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to effectively collaborate with individuals across business units/lines
  • Ability to take ownership and initiative, to negotiate, influence and build consensus and successfully navigate within a demanding and international environment of a leading global financial institution
