Bruker Corporation Application Scientist (m/f) Combustion Gas Analysis (CGA) in Karlsruhe, Germany

The application specialist is responsible for application development, according to new analytical requirements based in our center of excellence for Elemental Analysis in Karlsruhe (Germany) in the following industrial markets: Metal production and processing, Metallurgic, Ceramics, Environmental, Petrochemical, mainly.

In addition, he/she will be responsible for instrument test of new products and supporting sales, test field and customer support by adequate measurements, methods and documentations. Analytical techniques to cover include: Combustion Gas Analysis to determine the elemental concentration of Carbon, Sulfur, Oxygen, Nitrogen and Hydrogen, as same like mass spectrometry.

  • Analysis of customer samples as sales accompanying measure, creation of analytical reports and support the sale at applicative questions

  • Development of application requirements = APP Notes for marketing purposes and as sales support

  • Application and device tests prior to new development releases

  • Development / testing of new applications, if necessary in cooperation with customers, presentations internally and on external events (symposiums, workshops, conferences)

  • Equipment demonstrations for customers, together with sales and channel partners in Europe

  • Customer and / or sales trainings regarding applicative questions

  • Installation Trainings and applicative support of new and existing customers and channel partners

  • Willingness to occasional traveling, internationally

  • Finished Education in a scientific area like analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, chemical engineering or related field with a reasonable experience in laboratory work covering gas phase handling and spectrometry (IR, MS)

  • Ability to experiment, test, diagnose, troubleshoot complex application projects

  • Solid understanding of elemental analysis in inorganics preferred

  • Advanced user knowledge of MS Office is a must

  • Experience with analytical instrumentation software and signal processing, peak fitting procedures required

  • Basic programming skills and knowledge of SAP ERP preferred

  • Organizational abilities and self-motivational skills

  • Positive attitude and strong sense of commitment for teamwork and collaboration

  • Good communication skills needed for a wide range of knowledge levels with suppliers, consultants, in-house staff and customers

  • Driving license Class B is a must

  • German and English fluency in reading and writing is mandatory, further languages like French, Spanish or others are valuable
