Job Description and Responsibilities

DescriptionCoherent is searching for a Senior Desktop Technology Specialist as part of the Client Services organization within IT. The candidate will be required to provide local sites services to employees with information technology issues and requests involving PC, application or network services. Major responsibilities include developing client solutions, coordinating with customers to deliver services, troubleshoot and resolve PC issues, managing and maintaining incident information, identifying incident and problem trends, and developing long-term solutions to recurring problems. This person will work closely with other IT teams to ensure the highest levels of operational excellence. The position is temporary (limited until December 2017).Responsibilities• Manage and maintain vendor relations and vendor service contracts related to PC’s, desktop peripherals, printers and desktop software• Project manage and deploy all end user applications to the PC• Work with the Coherent’s business manufacturing floors to understand and streamline the IT infrastructure requirements• Create and maintain all aspects of standardizing PC standardization strategy for Coherent’s work force• Document PC software installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting procedures• Financial asset and software license management and reporting• Mentor Coherent’s PC Technician staff• Manage Infrastructure Lab for client services initiatives, including development and testing• Develop operations procedures and tools to improve operational efficiency and reliability for client systems• Lead Client Services projects

Education and Work Experience

Requirements• Minimum of 5 years’ experience providing enterprise level PC support services. Must have excellent knowledge of products including Microsoft Windows 7, Microsoft SCCM, Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Anti-virus/anti-malware utilities• Experience working with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, RDP, Print Management, PowerShell and vbscript• Develops and maintains effective relationships with customers, and is seen as a trustworthy associate with a high level of integrity• Is an active listener, ensuring the customer’s needs are fully understood with appropriate expectations effectively set and delivered• Good oral and written German and English communication skills; Capable of developing detailed architecture proposals and implementation documentation; can provide additional context in an understandable manner• Focused on problem solving and operational excellence using effective troubleshooting and problem solving skills• Resilient in the face of continual change, and ability to handle high demands• Learns quickly on the fly when facing new problems; looks at both failures and successes to find opportunities to improve
