Harman international Acoustic Systems Engineer (m/f) in Ittersbach, Germany


  • Design and tune Audio Systems for the automotive environment

  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for requirements

  • Support departmental initiatives and activities as directed by the department supervisor

  • Provide technical support and guidance for the solution of various customers´ and interdepartmental issues

  • Develop and document worldwide acoustic systems tools and best practices

  • Travel to customers and other Harman sites within Europe


  • Degree in Acoustic or Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Alternatively Tonmeister degree

  • Thorough knowledge of acoustics and practices gained from both a good academic foundation and via practical application and experience

  • Minimum 2 - 3 years of design experience of audio systems and components within the Automotive or Consumer Industry

  • Proficient in digital signal processing, circuit diagrams and physical /psycho acoustics

  • Understanding of best practice in product development and sound tuning

  • Experience in using and understanding audio tools

  • Basic knowledge of loudspeaker design

  • Excellent hearing capability

  • Basic knowledge of Matlab and programming/scripting

  • Fluent in English

  • Willing to travel to Harman sites within Europe (approx. 30% of the time) and having a drivers license

  • Strong problem solving skills and being communicative
