Technical Regulations and Standards Engineer (m/f)
Location(s) Where Opening Is Available Germany
The Technical Regulations and Standards (TR&S) Engineer (m/f) will provide Product Compliance and Modality expertise, while working with the modality to ensure that our GE Inspection Technologies products are designed and sustained to be compliant and safe to ship to all applicable global regions.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Product Compliance and modality expertise – The TR&S Engineer will identify all product legislation that impacts products within their modality and drive compliance.
NPI Projects - TR&S Engineer will integrate with product NPI and project teams to ensure products are designed to meet TR&S requirements.
Sustaining Projects – Support global TR&S team in getting product approvals for modality specific products to new legislation. TR&S Engineer will proactively monitor and sustain product compliance certificate expirations for their modality.
SAP GTS – The TR&S Engineer will be responsible create and maintain product licenses in the GTS tool.
Documentation – TR&S Engineer will work with design teams to ensure TR&S requirements traceability flow through NPI and project documentation.
Compliance testing – Assist NPI team in specifying and performing product compliance testing for new and sustaining products. Liaison with test labs as needed to ensure that product testing is being done efficiently and effectively.
SAFER – TR&S Engineer will be required to assist in the creation and maintenance of proactive and reactive Product Safety reviews that impact their modality.
Electrical Engineering or Technical degree from an accredited university or college, or equivalent.
Relevant hands-on experience in regulatory approvals and regulations in major regions (North America, Europe, Asia).
Hands-on experience in a new product development environment and/or with a certification body.
Analytical approach to technical problems: must be able to drive technical issues to closure.
Team player - must be proactive and creative.
Self-motivated, must be able to multi-task in a dynamic environment and handle pressure from project schedule and technical challenge.
Must have a working knowledge of European Union directives such as the LVD and EMC, and corollary harmonized technical standards.
Excellent interpersonal & written & verbal communication skills
Demonstrated skills with MS Office Suite - Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Must be willing and able to travel as required.
Experience with one of more of the product legislation categories that impact GE inspection Technologies equipment including, but not limited to: Lithium Ion Batteries, Electrical Safety, EMC, Lasers, Machine safety, Pattern Approval, Power adapter approvals, Ultrasonic, Eddy Current, Wireless approvals, and Industrial Cabinet X-Ray.
Experience with one or more of the following global product compliance approvals including, but not limited to: NRTL, FCC, MIL-STD, CCC, NOM, PSE, KC, IRAM, SABS, GOST R, CU TR, RCM, or EU legislation (ATEX, EMC, Low Voltage, Machinery, Pressure, R&TTE).
Strong organization skills, and Program/Project management skills.
Meticulous attention to detail.
Certified Six Sigma BB or GB (Internal GE Only)
Experience with GE Inspection Technologies products, or experience in the Oil and Gas industry
Demonstrated IT applications (MS Office Suite) - Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Working knowledge of SAP and GTS module for TR&S.
Working knowledge of M&C and O&G processes (e.g. NPI / ITO / OTR / Commissioning / Sourcing).
Experience with global environmental product legislation such as, but not limited to: RoHS, Battery Directive, WEEE, REACH, Conflict Minerals, Nanomaterials, and Energy Efficiency)
