Harman international Navigation System Engineer (m/f) in Garching, Germany


  • Analyze problems that cannot mapped to certain domain/team, including (but not limited to):

  • Application crashes (post-mortem analysis of navigation crashes with at a very tight schedule, 1-day analysis till root-cause found)

  • Performance violations (analysis of performance issues and definitions of countermeasures and take part in the implementation)

  • Diagnosis and Error Memory

  • Coding, Persistency and Personalization

  • New development and implementation considering lessons learned

  • Code review check of proposed solutions, and implementation

  • System test and performance KPI measurements

  • Accumulate knowledge about the system and the navigation software

  • Interface internally and externally to for all aspects of technical status and progress

Required Skills:

  • Proven experience in both Linux and QNX operating systems as a developer

  • Professional working experience in the C/C++ and in embedded software development environments

  • Professional knowledge in post-mortem analysis, software debugging and software detective for rare cases

  • Deep knowledge of embedded device constraints and how to debug issues throughout the entire software development lifecycle

  • Proficient of tooling and scripting in the development environment (gcc, gdb, strace, valgrind, lint etc.)

  • Record of working in the automotive industry. (an advantage for BMW experience, and their tools-chains)

  • Good team player that is willing to work in an international and variable sized teams

  • Motivated and persistent to implement and push solutions until delivered

  • Fluent in English writing and conversing

  • Good Communication Skills

  • An advantage for knowledge in Harman internal technologies MoCCA/DSI

  • An advantage for knowledge in Navigation systems and functionalities
