Alion Science and Technology Senior Engineer III in Einseidlerhof, Germany

Job Description: Provides system engineering, testing and integration for support system architectures. Specific tasks include, but are not limited to: Develop system architectures, simulation/stimulation diagrams, data flow diagrams, Internet Protocol schema and Ports Protocols Services (PPS) listing. Create comprehensive event thread and functional test plans to identify and resolve existing simulation to Command, Control, Communications, Computers, & Intelligence (C4I) interoperability issues. Generate work around where technical solutions do not exist. Document hardware and software baselines, technical procedures, diagrams, operating instructions and technical recommendations. Maintain a thorough understanding of the basics behind the Internet and its workings (DNS, Security, IP Routing, HTTP/HTTPS, VPN, Email Routing, etc.). Capture Live, Virtual and Constructive requirements and create Systems Interface Description (SV-1) and Systems Communication Diagrams (SV-2) and Network topology diagrams. Perform data capture of network traffic during exercises and provides analyses and recommendations. Accomplish network field engineering activities in accordance with project/exercise plans & designs. Works closely with the network engineers and system administrators to document current simulation architecture to include exercise specific configurations (versions, thread diagrams, ports, IP address schema, etc.). Maintains hardware and software inventory database: Maintains the hardware and software ports, protocols and services configuration database located on the SharePoint site that includes all needed information for firewall exceptions. Updates the IP address for simulation systems and peripheral equipment. Supports modeling and simulation system preparation for, during and after events: training, testing, configuration management and providing operational support for simulation software. Installs, maintains, monitors, and troubleshoots system and application software, system components, and peripheral interfaces in a multi-platform environment (Linux, Windows 7 Enterprise, etc.). Skills: Experienced in Windows Operating systems, Microsoft Office Applications, server/client environments, software packages, Cisco IOSs, and LAN/WAN infrastructure configuration. Proficient in analyzing system problems, developing technical solutions, and documenting results in an organized manner. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in computer science, engineering, information management or related discipline plus 3-years specialized experience or equivalent of 10 years specialized experience. Possess an active US Secret security clearance. Hold a current IAT Level II certification at the minimum of Security+CE IAW with DoD directive 8570.01-M.
