Job purpose

Specialist expertise in VMWare and at least in two (storage) solution areas e.g. Block Storage, NAS, LAN, SAN, Content, Server or Applications and able to do the fine planning, installation and integration of hardware, software and services as a part of these (storage) solutions in complex customer datacentre environments.


Understand complex customer and prospect’s environments, technical issues and strategies Understand and define the range and extent of products (HW and SW) and services that could be provided to HDS Customers and prospects. To provide guidance and expertise in the implementation and ongoing support of complex storage, file, content or server solution installations. Provide deep technical consultancy to the customer or prospect, which is perceived as representing real added value at their technical management level. Maintain a specialist level of expertise in consolidated storage, file, server solutions – including LAN or SAN connectivity and host software integration Develop similar expertise in other storage solution areas assigned by and agreed with manager Work with specialists in services and solutions group to ensure skills transfer Undertake the implementation of Hitachi storage, file, content or server solutions – including installation, configuration and integration of component software in complex customer environments Engage as a technical lead of project teams under the direction of the project lead lead assigned to those projects Ensure adherence to the physical/logical design signed-off by the customer Be technical lead in design questions arising during implementation, configuration or problem determination with the customer and with the Hitachi account or project team Ensure highest customer satisfaction in complex environments delivering projects in time, budget and quality Adhere to standard Hitachi delivery methodology Undertake the role of technical lead for projects when assigned by manager Brief engineers undertaking implementation and support them during completion of that work Validate correct implementation of the solution Complete reference information for the engagement and ensure appropriate skills transfer to the Hitachi customer support , sales team Identify opportunities for improving customer care, whether internal or external to Hitachi, and raise with manager Ensure effective team work and communication in all engagements – with customer staff, Hitachi account teams and services colleagues Continually seek further opportunities for Hitachi solutions ensures and notifies management and account teams Support the Account Manager and Technical Account Manager in developing new sales opportunities from specialist technical skills point of view. Ensure that HDS planning and operation documents are represent the optimum technical solution within the defined constraints. Provide technical liaison during proposals of complex solutions delivered by Sales and Presales. Give formal technical presentations to customers and prospects on issues when required. · At least 5 years IT industry experience · Deep Technical education and aptitude · In depth knowledge of VMWare and an another Operating System and Storage, File, Content, Server, IP or Application Solutions · Strong project management skills · ITIL Certifications or skills
