ABOUT THIS JOB
Baker Hughes currently has an opportunity for a Research Scientist, specializing in organic chemistry , based at their technology centre in Celle.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES * Oil & Lubricant related research and development, with emphasis on scientific understanding of chemistry , failure analysis, manufacturing processes and reliability analysis .
Lead and conduct research and development projects.
Development of standards, specifications and test procedures for oils, lubricants and greases.
Qualification of oils and lubricants.
Collaboration with engineering and product development .
Lead and conduct laboratory examinations for failure analysis, quality control and process optimization . ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Master’s degree or PhD in organic chemistry or chemical engineering with 3 y ea rs relevant experience in research or industry.
Knowledge and understanding of commercial oils and lubricants , manufacturing processes, analytical characterizations and measurement techniques.
Proven experience in oil & lubricant selection for high temperature environments (150-C ) , test procedures for oils, lubricants and greases.
Qualification of oils and lubricants.
Collaboration with engineering and product development teams.
Lead and conduct laboratory examinations for failure analysis, quality control and process optimization .
Good problem solving skills with a drive for results
Ability to build peer relationships as well as work independently
Must be action-oriented, ethical in value, and have a strong customer focus
M.S. or Ph.D. in Chemistry and 2-4 year s industrial laboratory experience .
Familiarity with organic chemistry, synthetic oils, and lubricants .
Familiarity with characterization of oils & lubricants, their breakdown mechanisms, and approaches used to extend application temperature
Understanding of oil & lubricant interactions with other organic and inorganic materials
