Amazon.com Junior Software Development Engineer – Frontend – Amazon Web Services in Berlin, Germany

The AWS OpsWorks team is looking for you, a curious and motivated engineer creating a delightful frontend for our customers around the world.

Our team owns a large-scale distributed Amazon Web Service that helps our customers manage and operate their own applications and infrastructure in the cloud. http://aws.amazon.com/opsworks/ We are constantly improving our product and UX.

We would like to build a rock-solid low-latency frontend with you, that makes our service an even more powerful tool for our users.

You are a junior developer, hands-on, curious to grow your technical abilities. You communicate effectively and are motivated to achieve results as a member of a diverse and fun team.

Most of all, you should love creating things and take pride in building user interfaces that make people more effective in their daily work.

While mostly responsible for the frontend, you will closely collaborate with our backend developers and ship your own features.

You will work highly customer-focused and be given the time to learn in depth about software development practices, latest tools and frontend technologies, as well as upcoming AWS services. Senior developers will mentor you on your way. You will be part of a SCRUM team that regularly delivers well-tested and reviewed releases and responds quickly to customers’ needs. Your projects will be publicly available, and make other developers' lives easier.

Our team is located in the center of Berlin, Germany.

  • A solid JavaScript background

  • Knowledge of CSS / SASS

  • Working experience with one JS framework, e.g. AngularJS or React

  • Curiosity, eager to learn

  • Interest in usability

  • Able to manage your own work items

  • Good communication skills

We are looking for frontend engineers with experience building usable and fast applications.

  • Knowledge of another programming language, e.g. Ruby, Python, or Java

  • Interest in writing modern JavaScript

  • Willingness to dive deep on AWS services

  • Experience with code review process

  • Knowledge of SVG or charting libraries

  • Work samples and projects (GitHub/bitbucket) in the mentioned areas are a big plus
