The Logistics Controller reports, plans and forecasts freight and distribution expenses for the Automotive EMEA Buiness Unit. He/She performs periodic analysis on the spend and identifies efficiency opportunities. The person in this role also drives optimization as well as standardization of practices across EMEA plants / legal entities

Tasks Summary & Responsibilities

Planning and Reporting:

  • Establishment of the yearly budget for Freight and Distribution spend in collaboration with Logistics, Warehouse, Supply Chain teams and local entities

  • Regional reporting and forecasting of freight and distribution spend for EMEA region within the month end close cycle

  • Analysis

  • Analysis of actual vs. forecasted/budgeted costs for freight and warehousing spend by providing concise information on deviations to the EMEA management.

  • Organization and lead of monthly reviews with EMEA entities and Logistics management to review actual performance in Freight and Distribution & Shipping Spend vs. Forecasted/budgeted costs.

  • Identification and follow-up of saving projects to further reduce freight and warehousing spend. Jointly drive initiatives with Carrier and Logistics managers.

  • Identification of critical products with high premium freight costs including initiation and follow-up of action plans with Supply Chain, planning and customer service teams.

  • Monthly review of allocation keys ensuring accuracy of charged freight costs to the business unit

  • Ad-hoc projects & analysis: provide decision support to management on projects and initiatives related to freight via financial modelling

  • Process Optimization:

  • Ensure freight and warehousing processes in the local entities are in line with TE Premium Freight Policy (Approval request in SAP; Usage of GL Accounts; Definition of Premium Freight per se).

  • Definition and launch of SAP Reports related to FAP (Freight Audit Payment) together with the Logistics team.

  • Further develop existing reporting systems and processes allowing a pro-active flagging of risks to the EMEA management.

  • University degree (economics or controlling preferred). Internationally recognized accounting qualification (CPA, ACA, or ACMA) is a plus.

  • Several years’ experience in various Controlling and Finance assignments
